Congratulations to our U9s teams who continued their great form last weekend against Westmanstown. There was a great contribution from all the players involved. This team has had a great start to the year and is undefeated in all 10 fixtures to date. Keep up the good work lads and training continues on Wednesday at 6.30pm. As GO Games do not have "scoring" as such, the score for this match is set just to reflect a "win"

Championship football returned to Saggart in style on Tuesday night as St. Mary's overcame St. Finians. Spurred on by the massive home support St. Mary's brought intensity and energy from the throw in, scoring 3 unanswered points before Finians got on the scoresheet. Mary's quickly established a foothold in midfield and the half back line kept Finians on the back foot creating overlaps and driving forward. Mary's first goal of the game came from a dangerous ball into the goalmouth from Trevor Tansey and Martin Byrne managed to beat his man and the goalkeeper to get a touch to goal. Mary's went in at half time leading 1-07 to 0-02. The second half began in the same fashion, determined not to allow Finians back into the match, 4 quick points killed the game off as a contest. Richie Redmond scored Mary's second goal, reacting quickest in the goalmouth and Mikey Byrne added on some well taken points as Mary's ran out winners by 2-19 to 0-05. There were massive performances all over the pitch. The defence only conceded 0-02 from play, midfield dominated and the forward unit was full of creativity and endeavour. Man of the match though had to go to Martin Byrne who scored 1-05 from play and linked well with players around him to create some lovely scores too. The players and management would really like to thank the massive support in Saggart for the game, it was great to see the club turning out in such numbers to support the lads, it was really appreciated.
